hi, does this mean the collection is opening early? the only time i can see is 11:59pm mst on the comm and on the ao3 collection, 11:59 pm is when story reveals are said to happen. 8pm is mentioned in the rules, but i think those are inaccurate cause it says april instead of august. i was hoping to have tomorrow to finish a treat and this news is a bit disappointing, as i have been assuming the all times were 11:59pm, as stated on the comm here.

I didn't have a set time to reveal the collection; by "deadline" I meant actual deadlines, for sign ups and works due, etc. 8 AM works for my schedule tomorrow, but to delay it an entire day (because really, waiting until midnight would mean reveals are really in practice happening on the 18th) also seems unfair. I can push it to midday if people want, but I'm not willing to make everyone wait a full more day.

The collection will stay open for treats another week, until the 24th. Is there a reason you wanted to post yours *before* the works are revealed?

once reveals happen i almost never go back to a treat that's all and i had planned my saturday to write this treat. people live in different timezones and collection reveals happen when they happen im usually asleep when most collections reveal. i go by what time is posted on the comms and ao3 profile so that reveals are happening early is a surprise when there has been no mention that the reveal time would be anything other than 11:59pm mst

Okay. Like I said before, I hadn't planned on a set time for reveals. I inherited this exchange from another mod, so I apologize if the rules seemed inconsistent. The accepted practice for most exchanges is that the reveal time isn't a set time, allowing flexibility in case of last minute pinch hits, etc - I didn't honestly think I was doing anything out of the ordinary here.

I am not going to delay the reveal an entire day for one person. That being said, I am willing to be flexible here; how much more time do you need?

I'm new-ish to exchanges but all the ones I've done so far have had reveal times listed on the AO3 profile and they have never revealed early, so I also thought we had till 11:59 pm MDT tomorrow like the AO3 collection says. My gift needs one last edit, which I had been planning to do tomorrow, but since I saw your post, I can just do that now. But I'm lucky because I'm not in a timezone that would be asleep right now.

Yeah, honestly I had no idea it said 11:59 on the AO3 collection. Again I apologize if that gave an impression I didn't intend.

If people prefer a later reveal, fine. But again, I'm not willing to push it back an entire day, which seems to me unfair to the 45-some people waiting on their gifts.

+1 to this. The exchange pinned post says all deadlines are 11:59pm MST, and so I'd assumed work reveals would be at 11:59 MST as well. It's not a huge deal, but for the next round, I'd strongly suggest either making all deadlines at the same time per time zone *or* explicitly specifying in the pinned post that works might go live at a time other than the specified deadline.

that has not been the accepted practice in the exchanges i have done. the reveals time is usually listed as the earliest time an exchange will open unless there are delays for pinch hits then the reveals are pushed back at whatever interval the mod deems necessary. i have been in exchanges where the deadline for assignments is 10pm and the reveals time is 10am but that has always been stated on the comm and ao3 profiles which is why this strikes me as unusual.

if you're willing to do a delay, 2pm would be fine. that will let other people wanting to do edits and treats some extra time too.
