Hi and welcome to the 2020 round of Het Swap! I'm old and tired, so I'm opening up the tagset a few hours early. Nominations will close at 11:59 PM on July 15th (MST). Here's a countdown. 

Please read through these guidelines before nominating!

You are allowed 8 fandoms, with 10 relationships in each. Tags are relationship based!

• All relationships must be het. 
• For the purposes of this exchange, het relationships are defined as a relationship between a partner who is male or genderqueer/non-binary, and a partner who is female/genderqueer non-binary. Both cannot be genderqueer non-binary. So for example: Ace is canonically male, Bee is canonically female, and Cam and Dex are both genderqueer/non-binary. The only pairing that would not be allowed in that situation would be Cam/Dex.
• Poly ships are allowed. Relationship must be romantic sexual - the "/" cannot be combined with "&" (i.e., you can nominate Ace/Bee/Cam but not Ace/Bee & Cam.)
• The het requirement in poly ships still applies - as long as there is at least one "angle" of the ship that qualifies under the definition listed above, it will be allowed.
• Genderswap is not allowed unless you are nominating an aspect of canon where the character has always been another gender (such as the Earth-3490 verse in Marvel, where Tony Stark has always been canonically female.)
• Pairings nominated with the "&" sign will not be allowed.
• Crossover relationships are allowed; please nominate under Crossover Fandom and include the fandom each character is from.
• Original Work relationships are allowed; please nominate under Original Work and include the genders of each character.
• Original characters are allowed in relationships with canon characters. Please include gender, i.e. Poe Dameron/Female Original Character, or James Kirk/Genderqueer Original Character, etc.
• Self-insert "reader" characters and RPF is also allowed. All nominated "characters" in RPF ships must be over 18 and famous in their own right.

 

A few specific fandom guidelines:

• MCU: Please nominate under "Marvel Cinematic Universe." The Defenders-related shows may be nominated under "The Defenders (TV)". If you wish to make a case for a certain show/film to be separated out, I'm open to it. 
• X-Men movies: please nominate "X-Men (Movieverse)". If you wish to specify a timeline, please do so with parentheses, i.e. "Rogue (OT)/Hank (XMFC)".
• Star Trek shows, as well as Star Wars movie trilogies, should be nominated separately. If you want to nominate a pairing with characters from different canons, please do so under Crossover Fandom.
• The CW's DC-related shows should go under "DC's Arrowverse".
• Comics: use your best judgment. If there are any thorny issues we can work them out in the tagset cleanup process.

Hello! I just saw the notification on fandomcalendar and I am EXCITE. Quick Q - I’d like to nominate relationships under Agent Carter, but I don’t know whether they should be under the broader MCU tag as they don’t really overlap with the rest of the universe given the time frame?

Since Agent Carter is pretty distinct from the film continuity I don't see any issue with nominating it separately!

Hi! Question: for Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the player character Byleth can be either male or female in canon (the player chooses) and is often written as some form of non-binary/genderqueer in the fandom. Do you have an opinion on which of these can be nominated? I'm assuming male and female are fine, because they're both canon, but NB Byleth isn't canon. Thanks!

If it's a common phenomenon (fanon?) among folks in the fandom then I'm alright with nominating Byleth as non-binary. The argument could be made that it's sort of canon anyway, with the gender of the character being fluid depending on who's playing it. So I think it's still in the spirit of the exchange!

For pairings that have crossover with other fandom tags, that would be helpful, yes! I can always add it on though so it's not a huge deal either way.

hey! Question--can we nominate fanworks for this exchange, assuming they're reasonably distinct from their source material?

And if this is laid out somewhere and I just missed it, my apologies--do offers have to be of more than one ship within a fandom, if more than one was nominated?

I'm hesitant to say a blanket yes about fanworks, but if it's distinct enough with a following of its own, I'm willing to accept it. So I'll take it on a case by case basis, if that's okay.

And no worries - the minimum relationship tag for each offer is 1, so you can definitely offer to only write the ship that you like, if there are multiple ones nominated.

And apologies if this is not where I should be making this argument--lmk if that's the case and I can move it.

There are two fics I'd like to nominate--one is the Rigel Black Chronicles by murkybluematter, a heavily AU Harry Potter fic series in which nearly all of the main cast are either original characters or are very different from their canon selves, the world has many notable divergences, and the plot--which is drawn as much, if not more, from Song of the Lioness as it is from Harry Potter--is also quite distinct.
It has a decent following, and a number of fanworks have been written for it--those which have been posted on ao3 can mostly be found here: https://archiveofourown.org/tags/Inspired%20by%20The%20Rigel%20Black%20Chronicles/works

The second is itself actually a fic of the Rigel Black Chronicles--Revolutionary Arc, by kitsunerei88. It's less distinct from RBC than RBC is from Harry Potter, admittedly, but it has many worldbuilding differences, differently-characterized characters, a lot of original characters (including at least one of the nominations I'd like to make), changes in character dynamics, and a very divergent plot.
Some of the fics in the linked tag are part of it; some of them are fic of it.

If it helps, RBC has been read and enjoyed by people who knew neither half of the source material, and Revolutionary Arc has been read and enjoyed by people who didn't know RBC.

I have a question. Normally, the character Daniel Sousa appears in Agent Carter, but recently he also appears in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Since I would like to request something that concerns the Daniel Sousa in AoS TV, can I nominate him under Crossover Fandom, e.g. Daniel Sousa (AoS TV)/Peggy Carter (Agent Carter TV)?
